Chests of drawers for children's and teenagers' rooms

Active chest of drawers
The height is judged so a child can reach the top drawer unaided — at the morning rush that saves a good number of requests for help. Every collection has one.
A chest of drawers instead of shelves
A drawer has one advantage over a shelf: you see all of it at once, so a child does not pull out three things to reach a fourth underneath. Underwear, socks, T-shirts and pyjamas go into the chest, and the wardrobe keeps its rail for what has to hang — which is usually the difference between a wardrobe that closes and one that does not.
Where it goes
A chest is low, so it fits where a wardrobe no longer does: under a window, between the bed and the wall, opposite the desk. The top stays clear, and then rapidly stops being clear — a lamp, a speaker, a plant, a photo frame. Beside a cot it works as a surface you can reach one-handed, without bending.
How much it holds
The models here differ in width and height, and so in how much they hold. Count seasons rather than drawers: a chest bought for a small child's room will still be standing in it when the clothes have gone up several sizes.
Finish and collections
The chests are furniture board with an antibacterial and hypoallergenic coating. Every collection has one, so the fronts agree with the bed and the wardrobe — from Cars Piston Cup and Frozen to College, Irony and Vintage Mode.
Common questions
A chest of drawers or another wardrobe?
A chest takes what gets folded — underwear, T-shirts, pyjamas — which leaves the wardrobe rail for what has to hang. That is usually cheaper and more effective than a second wardrobe, especially in a room with no wall left for another tall piece.
Where does a chest go in a child's room?
It is low, so it fits where a wardrobe no longer does: under a window, between the bed and the wall, opposite the desk. Beside a cot it works as a surface you can reach one-handed.
Will a chest last several years?
Usually yes — clothes grow in size faster than they grow in number. Count seasons rather than drawers: a chest bought for a small child's room is generally still in it during the teenage years.
