Wall units for children's and teenagers' rooms

Above the desk

This is where a wall module usually goes, and the only place where it genuinely changes how the desk works. Textbooks and folders within reach, but not on the desktop — which stays free for the notebook, the laptop and whatever is actually being done. They run from narrow single-shelf pieces to wide sets spanning the whole wall above a desk, so there is something for a narrow desk and something for a wide one.

A module instead of a shelf unit

In a room where every square metre of floor is already taken, a wall-hung module does a shelf unit's job without occupying any of it. A shelf 140–160 cm off the floor is within a teenager's reach and out of a younger sibling's, which is sometimes the point. The Campus TV module is the exception here — a wide unit for a television, closer to a floor-standing piece than to a shelf.

How it is fixed depends on the wall: a load-bearing wall is one thing, plasterboard another, where you have to find the stud or use anchors made for the material. Worth settling before the purchase rather than after — particularly with the wider modules and with whatever is going to stand on them.

Finish and collections

The modules are furniture board with an antibacterial and hypoallergenic coating, some with metal elements, and the Irony wall panel is metal throughout. The Campus, Siena, Julien, Ballerina, Vintage Mode, Irony, Plus, Color Mix and Cars Piston Cup collections each have their own version, so the module matches the desk it hangs above.
